This is something that is hard to estimate. We try and get applications approved as quickly as possible. A lot detends on the application. To speed up the approval time, please do the following:
1. Review your application - make sure all questions are answered. Even if only n/a (not applicable).
2. If you have EVER had a veterinary - this is probably one of the most important questoins on your application. We respect the veterinaries opinion. If they tell me you are overprotective, or see your animals regularly and take very good care of them - then this is considered a good to great reference. Be sure to put the name of the person who the dog's records are kept (example: you have recently married and your dog was under your maiden name - give that name - or more commonly - Mom took my dog to the vet - the vet put the dog under Mom's name - Give us the name the dog is under - you might even call the vet and let them know we will be calling - and verify how the records are kept.
3. Make sure we have good numbers on your references - call them and let them know we will be calling - sometimes people do not answer phones if they do not know who is calling.
4. If you live outside the Northwest Arkansas area, take pictures of your home, your area where the dog will eat, sleep, play. Also pictures of any dogs it will be living with and the fences including gates, corners and any holes. If you have a dog as a neighbor - include pictures of those who may be back yard buddies (sharing fences). If you will be walking the dog - instead of fences the area where you will be walking - photo of street you walk on, etc).
5. Be prepared for a home visit. We like to get to know our new pug parents and make sure the one you selected will fit your lifestyle.
So, to answer the question, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE? We have processed applications in matters of hours if everything comes in where we can make the calls and be able to do a home visit - I have seen it be weeks when we have questions or people do not return our calls.
We try and approve/disapprove an application within a week at the maximum.
To place a dog in your home - this depends on the foster family and if the dog is available quickly. We have foster families in Little Rock, Ft Smith and West Fork, Bentonville, Springdale, Fayetteville, Rogers. So it depends on time of our volunteers and foster families.
Remember, we DO give a 2 week guarantee - if you are having difficulties with a dog - we will refund your money and take the dog back if you notify us within 2 weeks. We hope this never happens - but sometimes it does.
